You must be 18 years old or older to buy a rifle or shotgun, and you must be 21 years old or older to buy any type of handgun. All federal, state, and local laws apply to all firearm sales.

Pre-1898 firearms may be transferred without the use of a FFL dealer. You will need to send the seller a current copy of your drivers license or a copy of your birth certificate. This is to verify that you are over 18 years of age.

All other firearms must be shipped to, and transferred through, a Federal Firearms Dealer in your area. It must be shipped to a FFL Holder. There are no exceptions. Even if you are a law officer it must be done this way. These guns cannot be shipped directly to you!

If you do not know a FFL dealer in your area to do a transfer of the firearm, just call around in your area to all pawn and gun shops. They all have a Federal Firearms License to buy, sell and trade firearms. These dealers do charge a fee to handle the transfer for you...The average fee nationally is $20.00 per gun...If you are quoted more, just call another dealer in your area...you should be able to find one with no problem at about this $20.00 fee.

Then the dealer you pick to do the transfer sends us a copy of their FFL License and we ship the gun to them with a copy of our FFL License for their records. Each FFL copy must have a hand signed in ink signature, a "Hard Copy"...no photo copies or faxed copies will work! It is the law!

When you pick up your new firearms purchase, you will need a "current copy" of your drivers license with your picture on it. Then the dealer will have you fill out all of the paperwork and do a background check on you, which usually takes only a few minutes...all states vary on if there is a waiting period or not. Please ask your local dealer for that information.
